THIS IS OUR HISTORY

My Great Grandfather Roland came to Canada from Scotland in the late 1800’s.
He settled his young family in Alliston, ON with an eye towards farming various cash crops including potatoes.

At Roland’s passing in 1927 the farming business was passed on to his only son, my Grandfather, Mackenzie.

At his peak he had 11 farms in production.  In the 1970’s my father Ronald focused on growing potatoes for processing.  He had contracts with large chip suppliers which allowed him to build a storage facility for 12 million pounds of potatoes.  He then doubled that facility in 1974.  At the time he held the largest processing contract in Canada.

My youngest son Barry is our 5th generation farmer who is proving to be a real technical wizard for improving how we farm and continue to plant, nurture and harvest the finest potatoes around.

Farming may have changed since my Great Grandfather started out, but what hasn’t changed is how important Family is to us.

It puts a smile in my heart every day to know our farm is providing a great life for my wife Liz, my kids Michael, Mary Ann and Barry and our Grandkids.

We put 5th generation on the bottle but there is already a budding 6th generation in our wonderful family!

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

delimiter image

I have been a farmer all my life but I also help the community I live in by volunteering my time.  I was a volunteer fire fighter until 2015 when I retired after 40 years of service. I’ve also been a volunteer with the Alliston Union Cemetery Board for over 20 years and have sat as President since 2001.

What’s important to me, like most folks, is my family.
So from ours to yours, the Beattie Family welcomes you to Beattie’s Distillery any time you are in the area.
